Who Is the Coalition?
The Coalition for a Strong UC is a collection of students from across the University of California system who believe that dramatic action must be taken to ensure the quality and affordability of public higher education in our state.
We support all ballot initiatives on the November 2010 ballot that will reduce the requirement for passing a budget in the state legislature from a two-thirds supermajority to a 50 percent simple majority. By taking control of spending decisions out of the hands of an entrenched minority that does not support public higher education and putting it back in the hands of the majority, we reinstate democracy in California and ensure that the UC system, the economic engine of our state, will continue to provide a world-class education at prices affordable to all students.
We call our campaign, “Restore the Majority, Restore the UC.”
